50’s Decade Box Gift Basket – Classic 50’s Candy

This gift basket is truly amazing, particulary if you were a child growing up in the 50s. While I came a decade later I have nonetheless heard of a lot of these candies and can only imagine how cool it would be to rekindle great child memories of eating these sweets 50 years later.

This gift basket was voted “Best Overall Value” by the Wall Street Journal’s Catalog Critic and comes with over 30 full-size pieces of candy from the 1950s – five pounds worth!

Here is a sampling of the candy that comes in this gift basket:

Nik-L-Nip Wax Bottles, Chuckles, Charms Ass’t Squares, Candy Buttons, Necco Wafers Chocolate, Cherry Mash, Necco Wafers Ass’t, Mary Janes, Zagnut Bar, Sno-Caps, Violet Scented Gum, Charms Pop Sweet, Walnettos, Bubble Gum Cigarettes, Bubble Gum Cigars, Smoothie Peanut Butter Cup,Teaberry Gum, Candy Stix Cigarettes, Oh! Henry Bar, Gold Mine Nugget Gum, Wax Lips, Sen-Sen Breath Refreshment, Skybar, Chocolate Moon Pie, Black Licorice Pipe, Abba-Zaba, Slo-Poke Jr. Sucker, Vanilla French Chew Taffy, Cup-o-Gold, Chocolate Cigarettes, Slap Stix, Chick-o-stick, Butter Rum Lifesavers, Clark Bar, Goetze’s Cow Tail, Haviland Wintergreen Patty, Vanilla Bun Bar.

Almost all of this candy from the 1950s is foreign to me. Which candy do you recognize? I’ve had a Zagnut Bar, Sno-Caps, Candy Stix Cigarettes, an Oh! Henry Bar, Wax Lips, a Slo-Poke Jr. and Butter Rum Lifesavers.

If you know more than half of this candy or you know somebody who probably does I think this gift basket, while not entirely gourmet exactly, would make a great gift!

I think these two reviews by people who have bought the basket say it all:

This decade candy basket makes an excellent gift for mom dad yourself,or your friends of all ages..These will go fast. You cannot go wrong.I just purchased this as a christmas gift…5 star rated.

and

This a fun idea. Most of the candy is available at local stores, but it is nice to have someone else put it all together for you. The box is cute with the warning sticker on top. My parents loved it and reminisced for days. They got a kick out of how much their little grandchildren loved the candies.

What are you waiting for? Give it a try!
